The undertaking called “Śrem also has its Celebrities” started in 2006, when the local weekly “Tydzień Ziemi Śremskiej” published a series of articles on eminent people of Śrem. The initiators of this enterprise were The Town Hall in Śrem, the Śrem Branch of the Polish Medical Association and the weekly Tydzień Ziemi Śremskiej.
 
For over a year the local press introduced the profiles of individuals coming from Śrem who play a significant role in their professional environments. The crowning moment of the campaign was the meeting of the Famous, which took place on 21 November 2007.
